Day 1- The Plan
Hello and welcome,
I’ve decided that today would be the last day that I consume animal products, and it only seems right to begin my vegan blogging. Here’s an overview of topics to come:
-My transition to vegan.
- Why go vegan? Facts, videos, debate.
-Tips on going vegan. Foods to eat, things to buy, etc.
-Vegan vs. vegetarian. What’s the difference? Which is better? Why? Exploition of animals.
-Ethics; a discussion.
-Recipes.
-Vegan stories.
-Ways to deal with put-downs, valid responses to arguments.
-Seeing both sides of the argument, being a good activist.
-Other blogs.
-Life as a vegan and RANTS.
I’ve been a vegan off and on for the past few months, and it was my new years resolution to go vegan, but I haven’t been taking it seriously enough. I have all of the information and all of the drive that I need now, and I’m ready to really commit. Because that’s what being a vegan is, it’s commitment. It’s not a diet, it’s a lifestyle. You have to think vegan and act vegan, not just eat vegan. I believe that as an animal rights activist, it’s my duty to inform people of the cruelty that’s happening in the world. But fear not, I’ll save that for a later post. Vegan is what you eat, what you wear, and how you act. It’s a commitment.
So let’s start with something easy. What does it mean to be a vegan? Well, a vegan by definition is someone who does not eat or use any animal products or any products tested on animals. Yes, that means eggs, honey, wool, silk, and dairy, among other things. I’ve been a vegetarian for over two years. A vegetarian doesn’t eat meat, but does eat dairy and eggs.
I’m ready to begin my vegan journey. (How epic does that sound?)
Thanks for reading, and stay tuned,
Megan
